✨ Welcome to the magical world of botanical gaming with this hand restored fern vintage backgammon board!

This board is of a batch of 4 made in spring 2024 (see my other listings for variations). It is made from a restored vintage handmade lacquered cherrywood and real wood veneer top with a preserved selection of Herb Robert leaves laced across the top with a bio resin inlay of pressed and preserved Fern and lichen sections.

It is important to note that as with all things in nature the leaves will change colour over time. Each type of leaf or petal will age in a unique way, some turn a deep sepia, some a faded pastel, some even turn in to a nebula of different hues. This process can begin over months or years depending on how the board is stored. To delay the change in colours keep away from UV light and humidity.

As it is handmade this board has imperfections owing to irregularities in the wood and resin finish, some small bubbles are captured around the plants (pictured) . The board is estimated to be from the 70’s and as such does have some small scuffs and marks of age in the finish of the lacquer and felt This lends to a particularly handmade style and does not effect the functionality of the board.

The board either comes with standard wooden factory made counters or, for an additional cost; hand sliced Birch branches that have been alternately stained and sealed, then lined with soft underlay to protect the board surface from scratches.
