Handmade Mancala board, with real preserved Aster and sumac leaves, pumpkin pod counter B Grade cottagecore goblincore unique Canada gift
This board was made in February 2024 (see my other listings for variations) . It is made from Beech wood featuring alternating preserved red Aster and sumac leaves that have been lacquered with satin matter Hyperion sealer (an environmentally friendly alternative to resin) and is dimensional so must be handled and stored with some care, especially in the first few weeks as it takes 30 days to achieve maximum hardness and protection. The counters are dried putka pod seeds that resemble adorable tiny pumpkins.
It is important to note that as with all things in nature; the leaves will change colour over time. Each leaf ages in a completely unique way, some turn a deep sepia, some a faded pastel, some even turn in to a nebula of different hues. This process can begin over months or years depending on how the board is stored, to delay the change in colours: keep away from UV light and humidity.
This board is imperfect owing to slight irregularity in the upper finish and inconsistency in the pressed flowers. This does not affect the functionality of the board. It’s a restored handmade vintage piece and as such does show some maker marks and signs of it’s age.
