Botanical backgammon board with pressed ferns - shabby chic cottagecore goblincore unique nature board game marquetry - B grade
This board is a restored vintage piece from the 70’s made in a briefcase style, it’s made out of maple wood and has preserved leaves under layers of satin matte Hyperion lacquer, it comes with an option of unique handmade Beech wood counters that are filled with preserved queen annes lace flowers and leaves under a delicate drop of resin.
It’s a beautifully well made board of inlayed wood, featuring clasp closure, counter storage spaces and period brass handles and fixtures. It is approximately 44 cm wide unfolded and features inlay and dimensional outer decoration that have been attached with Britetone sealer (an environmentally friendly alternative to resin).
It is important to note that as with all things in nature the leaves will change colour over time. Each type of leaf or petal will age in a unique way, some turn a deep sepia, some a faded pastel, some even turn in to a nebula of different hues. This process can begin over months or years depending on how the board is stored. To delay the change in colours keep away from UV light and humidity. It's also important this board is stored carefully due to the textured outside.
This board is imperfect owing to irregularity in the finish and some discolouration of the ferns. it’s my first time using this specific technique so does have various maker marks.
Please select what type of counters you would prefer in the ‘variations’ section, the board either comes with standard wooden factory made counters or, for an additional cost; resin and flower counters.
