Buttercup and Fern backgammon board, with pressed leaves including ferns and buttercups, shabby chic, cottagecore goblincore unique nature
This board is of a batch of 6 made in February 2024 (see my other listings for variations) . It is made from pine and beech wood, with a bio resin inlay of pressed and preserved Fern and buttercup flower sections.
The board is restored vintage piece from the 80’s in a compact folding style, it is only 4cm thick when folded and is best used with the counters carried separately in the drawstring bag provided.
Please select what type of counters you would prefer in the ‘variations’ section, the board either comes with standard wooden factory made counters or for an additional cost; hand sliced Birch branches that have been alternately stained and sealed, then lined with soft underlay to protect the board surface from scratches.
It is important to note that as with all things in nature; the leaves will change colour over time. Each leaf ages in a completely unique way, some turn a deep sepia, some a faded pastel, some even turn in to a nebula of different hues. This process can begin over months or years depending on how the board is stored, to delay the change in colours: keep away from UV light and humidity.
This board is imperfect owing to irregularities in the wood and resin finish, the buttercups released a lot of air whilst curing leaving a smattering of bubble texture which is visible on close inspection.and the board shows some small scuffs and signs of it’s age. This lends to a particularly handmade style and does not effect the functionality of the board.
